Ruins of the Castle Durbelière ( Mauleon, Deux-Sevres)




Durbelière The castle is built on the site of an older building, between 1440 and 1460 by the family of Rorthais. Subistent this time the tower with canted and the wall with its corner turrets. The castle was redesigned and improved in the early seventeenth century the old drawbridges are replaced by bridges dormant, the terrace bordering staves decorated with a balustrade, the current porch is built, which is dated 1631 and arms of Pierre DE MEULLES and his wife Renee Rorthais. The ancient common close to the court 80 meters long, have now become farm buildings, ended on the west by a long gallery with a column, which served as a carousel. Durbelière is transmitted by the alliance in 1679 to the family Vergier OF THE Larochejaquelein.
