Assumptions to remember!
As I have previously, my theory of behaviorism of November 2005 ... Here is a short inventory of assumptions that I made on this point, and who still hold the road (or have even proved correct) at this stage of the series (episode 2x20) ...
The six stations
In the film "Orientation", it says that the Dharma Initiative focuses on six areas of research: meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism, and utopian social ... I hypothesized that there are six stations on the island, each devoted to one area of research:
Station 1: Psychology
Station 2: Para-psychology
Station 3: Electromagnetism
Station 4: Zoology
Station 5: Meteorology
Station 6: Utopia social
EDIT: Correction after the episode 2x21: it seems that there is actually six stations devoted to Psychology (with each film "Orientation" containing instructions from the same barrel), and a whole series of other doors for various uses (including trapping and medical station arrow) ...
And given that these stations are supplied with electric current (at least the station's "swan" station and "arrow"), one can assume that they are interconnected by a network of underground electric cables. The six stations are probably related to a "control center" in the manner of a star network ... The latter hypothesis seems confirmed in episode 9, when Michael dialogue with a pseudo-Walt via the computer (so there is an intranet on the island) and in the episode 16, where Locke finds himself facing the famous map drawn on the door explosion of the hatch! The stations do seem to be connected by an underground star, with its center, a place unknown to the island symbolized by a question mark ...
Hanso Foundation
I hypothesized that the Dharma Initiative was not just funded by the Hanso Foundation, but it's actually the latter who takes the reins ... This assumption seems to be confirmed by various allusions made by others (Ethan, Mr. Friendly and Henry Gale) to a powerful and ruthless man, who could be Alvar Hanso! The most obvious index leading to this hypothesis, is this quote by Mr. Friendly pronounced during the confrontation survivors / others in Episode 11 (The Hunting Party):
"A Whole Lot Somebody smarter than anybody here Once Said : From The Dawn Of Our species, man has been "blessed With curiosity"
This last sentence is simply a quote from Alvar Hanso, published on the front page of the site of the Hanso Foundation ! If man as Mr. Friendly quotes in this episode is none other than the head of Others, it means Alvar Hanso is the man and that this is the Hanso Foundation, which controls the Dharma Initiative !
Utopia social
The social utopia is one of six research areas of the Dharma project, I hypothesized that social utopia is experienced on the island ... This assumption seems to be confirmed since the episode 7 (The Other 48 Days) in which we discover that the survivors of the rear of the aircraft have been many abductions from a list ... And according to Goodwin, the requirement that this list is drawn is to be a "good person"! This revelation is very much in the sense of a social utopia ... The "right people" are removed and are then packed to be docile and obey the orders ... It was from there that I made an important assumption about the "others" (see below) ...
Computer
In my theory, I said that the procedure code to enter the computer was a psychological experiment on the occupants of the hatch, and the zeroing countdown would not cause any catastrophe, contrary to what Desmond said ... And for one simple reason: encoding the same numbers every 108 minutes in a computer is a task that could easily be automated ...
However, recent episodes have shown us that the end of the world was not immediately ... Moreover, if members of the Dharma Initiative have taken the trouble to equip the door for two occupants can live for 540 days (or more) is that this is the button that is important, but both the persons responsible for the press every 108 minutes! As I explained in my theory, it could be a psychological experiment to study the behavior of individuals performing a task rather useless in the simple question of a disaster ...
The Others
Following my hypothesis of social utopia, then I speculated on the others ... To me, they could be separated into two groups:
- Those who conduct the experiments: the members of the Hanso Foundation (Ethan, Goodwin, Mr. Friendly) ... Note: many thought that Ethan and Goodwin were not part of the same group, similar to Ethan and Mr. Friendly ... We learn in episode 15 (Maternity Leave) Ethan had a mission similar to that of Goodwin (infiltrate the survivors immediately after the crash and a list of people to remove) and it has ordered in the person of Mr. Friendly! So my assumption was correct, although they were all part of the same group!
- Those who suffer the experience: people who have been kidnapping (including survivors of the rear of the unit). They are then removed conditioned to obey orders (such as removing other people, for example). The priority appears to help children, because they are naturally "good" and easier to handle ...
connections between the characters
most obvious assumption, I said that connections between the characters that we discover in the flashbacks were a crucial and there would be many more. .. It was not very hard to guess, but we must admit that these connections are famous proportions increasingly important in recent episodes ...
Figures
I said in my theory that in my view, the recurrent appearance of the figures all the sauces were a mere delusion screenplay (along with the recurrent appearance of number 47 in ALIAS) ... One of the writers had declared in an interview:
"I Think That That Question Will Never, Ever Be Answered. I Could not Possibly imagine [how WE WOULD That answer question]. We Will see more ramifications of the Numbers and more use of the Numbers, But It boggle my mind When people ask me, What do the Numbers mean? "(Damon Lindelof)
At this point in the series, my guess is always the road ... We still do not know the meaning of these famous figures, because in my opinion, the choice of this series of numbers is arbitrary (if it were other figures, it does not alter the course of the story) .. .
Polar bears
Deduction easy, I said in my theory that in my view, the presence of polar bears was related to experiments in zoology (just because you see polar bears in the film "Orientation" when they cite the zoology) ... These bears have been brought to the island to be a behavioral study in an environment totally different from their original environment ...
